Geometric wedding invitations are all the rage right now, and here are what we think are two beauties--especially if you're a fan of watercolor purple flowers. These have just a slight touch of blue in them, too, which gives them a little extra pop of rich color, along with the gold asymmetrical frames. 

But these free printable blank invitations templates don't have to be used for just weddings, the beautiful purple and gold backgrounds provided by the watercolor flowers and geometric shapes also work well for birthdays, anniversaries, Mother's Day, tea parties, summer garden parties or any occasion that calls for modern elegance. These can also be used as digital scrapbook backgrounds in Photoshop, Photoshop Elements (the program I use) or other graphics programs, or as stationery. Tips

• These designs can be used either horizontally or vertically, and the horizontal versions can be turned to face in either direction. 

• There are literally thousands of free fonts available online. So it can be hard to hone in on just the right one. To aid you in that process, we've chosen some that will work well with these templates, especially for a formal occasion like a wedding or anniversary party. Just click on the font names below to go to their respective download pages:

The Pinyon Script font is a classic italic script font that is both formal and easily readable.

The Good Feeling script font is great for imparting a casual vibe.

With its sweeping flourishes, Scriptina is reminiscent of hand calligraphy

Bunch Blossoms is perfect when you want to introduce a touch of whimsy.

And don't be afraid to combine non-script and script fonts. You can see some examples of successful pairings if you scroll w-a-y- down to the bottom of this Instagram page.

• If you'd like to simulate gold for your text, the color code for use in programs like Photoshop,  Photoshop Elements or any other graphics program that allows you to enter a code is c29e48. That color will match the artwork.
