When we saw these Santa and elves images, we knew they would make the perfect Christmas invitation background. St. Nick is looking at his elves as if to say, "Hi, guys! Here are some more toys!" At least that's what we imagine him saying. That's the great thing about cartoons, you can imagine them saying whatever you want.

These free printable holiday invitations are available as both lined and blank versions. See the Tips section below for the font used if you want to use the same one for the blank version. You'll also find some suggestions for the art's use in that section. And scroll down below the download link to see unobstructed views of the artwork.

Tips

  • This template can be used as a Christmas flyer background for potlucks, office parties, etc., anywhere an open invite is more appropriate. Of course, the lined version is perfect for straight-up person-to-person invitations, although they could be used for extending a group invite as well. They can be created in Microsoft Word, Photoshop CC, Photoshop Elements (the program used to make these templates) or other graphics programs. See our movie party page for instructions, tips and links to some helpful free graphics programs.

  • There are multiple methods for using the lined template. You could print a copy, write your party info by hand, then scan it and print that scanned version. Of course, you could also just print the number you need and handwrite on each one. Or you could put the digital art into whatever software you're using and add your text on top of it, and then print as many as you need. See the tip above for a link to help you do that latter option.

  • If you need assistance writing the copy for your flyer or invitation, the posts on this site are a great resource. They also provide wording samples and suggestions for other occasions.

  • If you'd like to match the typeface used on the artwork, it's called Darktown. We usually try to use free fonts to make them accessible to everyone. Frankly, though, after so many years, we were getting a little bored with using the same ones over and over. As of this writing, the font is only $10. So it's not outrageously expensive. And for that price, you also get a lifetime commercial license should that be of use to you.
